Board provides a rich set of data-entry features for the creation of analytical applications such as budgeting and planning models, and in general any simulation model and business application. Such models and applications generally require a high degree of interaction by the end-users whom need to set assumptions, input data and commentaries, then run calculations and eventually review the assumptions or input values.
The DataView object provides features to enter data in InfoCubes, add new members to an entity and manage relationships (read the next paragraphs in this chapter).
The DataView object provide features allowing to
enter data in an InfoCube: to save numeric data and text in InfoCubes,
define validation rules to control the input values,
define locking rules to control what data can be input,
create a new entity members,
assign or change the relationship between members of two hierarchically related entities
In case it is required to provide the end user an even more controlled and guided environment, enable ATO Management which empowers the standard data-entry features.
ATO management allows to
better control the creation of new members and relationships
control the write-back to an InfoCube with a procedure. This allows to add before or after saving data to an InfoCube the processing of a Board procedure for example to calculate other data (other InfoCubes).
