Board Software

These logics are independent from the Board Finance Consolidator Application : if you have already got such know-how you can skip this section.

Deploying a Board Software environment , primarily requests the installation of two distinct Software Layer, plus the activation of the licenses you have purchased.

We suggest to carefully read  the following section belonging to the Board Software  Official documentation :

> Chapter 3 - Installation and Configuration

   - Board Client Installation and Configuration

   - Board Server Installation and Configuration

> Chapter 4 - Licenses

   - Prerequisites

   - Creating the half-key

   - Sending the half-key for certification

   - Receive and verify the certified key

You are now able to connect to the Board Server using the "first" user you created during Board Server Configuration process.

Even if you are now able to create all the users you need, we suggest to do it, only when the Application has been completely configured and runs properly.

Spending some times on the Application, during the preliminary setting for example, gives you a better picture of how it works and which are its basic processes : this helps you to spot out which are the users profiles you have to create, and which privileges should be assigned to each of them.

To understand better the Users Manager System and its logic, we suggest to read the following :

> Chapter 5 - User Accounts and Security

   - Security basic concepts

   - How to create an user account

   - How to create an user profile

   - Database security profiles

image42.jpgApplication restrictions should reflect closely People roles and company profiles. Basically you have to assign :

Application Privileges

Board Finance Consolidator Application collects different Application (Board Capsules) each with different scopes. These Caspules are by default located into different folders. Folder visibility is a property of the Board User profile : through restrictions on Capsule folder you can assign restriction on Application usability. As sample, local subsidiaries user can use the Local Reporting Application but they can't use the System Administration Application.

Database Privileges

Board Finance Consolidator Application mainly works on a Board Database (named BFC Conso): the database security allows the creation of Database profiles with accurate restriction on data access. Each Board User can then be associated with a Database profile inheriting from this the data privileges. As sample, local subsidiaries user should have "read and write" privileges to manage adjustments but with a severe restriction on their own Reporting Unit.

Area Manager can have full visibility on an entire Consolidation Node (e.g. Europe), and top management can have Corporate Level access.

Please refer to Board Software Manual how to setup Users' Database profiles.
